Changeling concept: Husks by Siansaar Changeling concept: Husks by Siansaar
(I'm using Velvet and Strap here because we know what they normally look like and I wanted to show how life under the changelings affects ponies)

Ponies that have been completely sucked dry of their love become low class workers that are mainly used for cleaning the hive and other menial tasks. Having to walk on jagged rocks most of the time leaves them unable to run away and mimics their superiors’ appearance in a grotesque way. They cannot exist outside the hive because they have forgotten what it means to be a free willed individual and will only live to serve the queen.

Husk ponies will often assist normal workers in transporting the queen’s eggs into breeding chambers, where those are placed into cocoons to grow into full-size changelings.

Sometimes husk ponies will forget what their assignment was or become more aware of their actual surroundings, at which point a normal worker will transform itself into someone they know and love and coax them back into doing their tasks.
In this case, Velvet’s “mom” would tell her to continue looking after her “little ones”.

If one can get a powerful mage to break the initial hypnosis spell and then apply intensive physical and mental care, it is possible to restore husks to their normal state. Subjects are not likely to fully trust anyone ever again though.

I'm working on some Changeling headcanons of my own and was wondering if I could borrow this idea of husks. I'd probably change a few things, but overall, it'd be the same.

This is AWESOME. Love your expansion and development on how Changelings work, this is incredibly unsettling and interesting at the same time.

I'm working on creating a changeling kingdom/hive, and despite some of my changeling headcanons being different from yours, I was wondering if I could use your concept for husks and some ideas from your "The next generation" concept? I'll credit you, of course.

question- how does a changeling even go about draining love from someone? is it, like, a vampire sort of thing, or does it have something to do with magic?

well they don't bite their victims, if that's what you mean, but honestly, you'd have to ask the show creators. going by how chrysalis went about it in "a canterlot wedding", i'm assuming it's something magical though.

So basically they turn them into there own personal slaves. But would they actually turn some of them into changelings or let them like this ?

to me that's like asking if there are "good" mosquitoes out there. at the end of the day, whatever they do, they're still parasites.

i hope he meant bomb the shit out of the changelings, cause husks are usually rather harmless - unless they notice that you're trying to harm the changelings or their eggs. (eh, they're still pretty harmless cause they're usually pretty emaciated)
and, given a lot of time, therapy and anti-hypnosis, they can be brought back to their pony self. though they'll probably never trust anyone again.

He meant bomb the shit out of the Changelings. After seeing what the Changelings did to their victims, who wouldn't go into a berserk fury on them?

and how whould you restore a husk to there normal state?

in my version of the mlp universe it is actuly possible to build up a resestence or imunity to changeling love feeding spells
there are many ways to achive this but the most commen is to be in a relationship with the changeling and be aware of the fact that the pony your in a relationship is a changeling

These are some pretty interesting ideas you've got going here. But I have to ask, how are the husk's sustaining themselves? I've read enough to know that the changelings can't feed off them and use them as workers but wouldn't they normally die? Or does the transformation into a husk automatically make nourishment unnecessary somehow, or are they self sustaining?

hm, i figure they just stop eating all together, since they don't think for themselves anymore. if someone forgets to give them a new task, the hypnosis might wear off a tiny bit and they might notice they are hungry, but other than that they are usually occupied with serving the hive. the changeling "magic" may give them a bit more endurance, but they usually don't last longer than a few weeks.

Hmm, ok, I was just curious since I read that part about them being able to go to therapy and get more or less back to normal so I assumed that they could be under the hives control for long periods of time.

hm, good point. to be honest, i haven't thought much about that part yet. might be they get designated food breaks once a day or something so they live longer.

Ah, that would make sense.... Or some kind of magic that let's them last longer without eating.... Sorry for bugging you with all these questions, I just think its a really cool idea and I tend to look for the little details.
