it's negaverse's polly and bushroot. remember when i talked about half-plant duck mutants periodically withering and being reborn? yeah, i've decided that only polly has that problem. her genes kinda re-arrange when outer influences have changed too much over a certain timespan (f.ex. her skin would become more cold-resistant if temperatures generally were low).
normalverse polly had to find out the whole thing on her own and freaked even worse than negaverse polly because she didn't have anyone to console her. the whole process takes weeks and has her aging gradually, with the last few days being REALLY bad as her limbs rot off, until finally one of her head-stalks plants a seed in some dark, wet corner and her body falls apart. from that seed, her new body is born within a few days. generally this occurs every ten years or so, if outer influences become too strong, then earlier (f.ex. if she were stranded in the desert).
poor nega-bushroot must've had lived through hell those few days believing his finally-found love gone.
hope everything is properly readable.

This is awesome! If she retried from a seed, is that really her or a clone of her? Or her daughter?

definitely not her daughter...but as for clone vs. original, who can tell? she's got all the memories, personality and experiences in her, so i guess it doesn't really matter :)

I have nothing to say other than this is excellent; a brilliant idea, very sweet and yet slightly disturbing and really... original :D
