Incredible design! I love how visceral the flesh of the creature looks, and the eye is frightening. Its an accomplishment to make him look freaky even out of the dark.

the original eye was just an empty socket,the idea being that it lights up whenever tasty children are near :D

That's actually a pretty sick idea. One might argue phallic imagery but I won't go there!
